Description
“Shape of the Sounds of the Rams Horn” This is a an art piece rendered from a sculpture made from shells and a rams horn. The shapes and sizes of the shells parallel the character, timing, and duration of the sounds of the shofar (rams horn) blown on the Jewish New Year) Rosh Hashanah.
On this holoiday it is a call to WAKE UP
There are 4 major sounds
Teki’ah (Single long sound)
Shevarim (3 broken sounds)
Teru’ah (9 short sounds)
Teki’ah Gedolah (very long sound)
In the art piece (reading from l to r) the first is a single trumpet like note of a welcoming announcement (single long sound). The second set consists of three medium, wailing blasts ― of a sobbing nature. Next are 9 quick blasts in short succession ― an alarm clock, arousing us from our slumber. The last – the rams horn is a long blast – a call to look inward at personal shortfalls with an intent to change for the following year
