The Sometimes Heart Shape of the Tamarind Seed 

Tamarind  belongs to the family Fabaceae and is indigenous to tropical Africa in such countries as Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria and Tanzania.  It was introduced to Mexico in the 16th century and also to South America.  It is very popular in Indian cuisine

The heart shape of the Tamarind  seed is the subject of this art piece. The shape of the seed is heterogeneous.  With Valentine’s day in mind, I searched the many seeds of the leguminous edible fruit at the dinner table, and came up with two heart shaped seeds.

The art piece shows two heart shaped tamarind seeds enjoying a romantic sunrise in their tropical home.  The colors of the seeds match the colours of the rising sun on the water.
