Damaged Heart Shaped Leaf 

The heart shaped leaves of the art piece – has lost the top of its right (really left side as it faces us)

The leaf is from the Linden tree (aka lime tree, basswood) with heart shaped leaves is derived from the genus Tilia which consists of about 30 species in the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere. The leaves of all the Tilia species are heart-shaped.

The art portrays that part of the heart has been lost – but also infers that that all is not lost and there is still a lot of love to give.

The color is sombre, and results in a mood of melancholy.
