Description
“The Nucleus in Health and in Cancer” shows the a normal nucleus associated with a “thumbs up” reflecting health, and “thumbs down” reflecting disease.
Cancer reflects either an innate genetic aberrance and/or an exposure to an environmental carcinogenic substance.
The nucleus is central to activities of the cell (images). Morphologically when the nucleus becomes too big and the cytoplasm shrinks the nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio increases. This structural feature is characteristic of cancerous cells.
Artistically surrealism and spherism is used provide the idea of good and bad. In this case smaller is better. The story of Goldilocks and the three bears come to mind; … not too big, not too small, but just right!
