Description
This image is a low power histological (tissue) section of a normal adult female breast. The structures that look like tree trunks (black) are the ducts. Coming off the tips of the branches are small rosettes of glandular tissue that look like blossoms or flowers. The supporting connective lies between the ducts and glands. The black “bubbles” within the supporting tissue represents the fat tissue of the breast.
Physiologically the glandular structures are the factories that produce milk during the period of lactation and the branches of the ducts are the pathways of delivery to customer – in this case the baby. The economic aspect of the city inside the body is borne in mind
Artistically the artist emphasizes the tree like structure of the ducts and glands in deep red colors. The image is also available in many other colors.
