Description
“Anatomy of Creation” shows the evolving earth as Adam and Eve are created among the heaven, earth, sea, sun, moon, and stars, and in fact the whole universe. The art piece reflects the time of creation as depicted in the old testament which starts out with the second letter of the alphabet (beth) – which is the first letter of the word bereshith =in the beginning. The letter is closed to the past (as we read right to left) – is forward facing and has a little dot in its middle which is the seed for all of life and biology as we know it on earth. The use of the rams horn in this context (when no obvious animals were around) is symbolic for the Jewish New Year celebration of creation (Rosh Hashanah). The rams horn is used to wake us up from our slumber and remind us to look inward in order to become better in our outward dealings with life around us. Why anatomy? – the parts that make up the earth and human beings are displayed and explored with broad brush strokes.
