Description
A CT scan with maximum intensity projection shows an unfolded aorta. Artistically, the shape of the aorta in youth – (left) is straight and proud, and as the aorta gets to middle age it is still proud and stands out as a white but bending slightly with age.(middle). Old age changes the color to a gray and bent and shrunken aorta, as it starts to fade into the background. Philosophically it is the story of time and biological reality. The power of youth is not appreciated as one goes through it. During middle age one becomes more aware of these changes and we look backward with admiration and forward with fear. In old age we are resigned to the reality of time.
